Snow Time Fun

Today we woke to a snow covered Shrewsbury, what a sight, i lifted Kellyn and Ceienna up to the window for a view of the first snow fall for us for the new year. The three of us were so excited and we could not wait to get out.

We headed off early to school as we wanted to take a walk in the snow before our day begun, for me it was an extremely busy day ahead.

We headed over the border into a snow coverd Wales to school, it was beautiful. Though the last few weeks we had be given many reports of snow from Wales and while visiting we had seen it but getting it ourselves was even better.

We stopped in Llanymynech for a walk along the Canal where the snow was quite deep. We had a great time playing before we had to go to school.

Though many schools throughout the country remained closed today Kellyns school was open for the morning anyway. Kellyn was pleased as he loves school. So as ever he hurried into his classroom, i said goodbye and headed to Shrewsbury to a hectic day or meetings to do with the business. 2010 already is seeing many changes, a whole NEW me. Getting into Shrewsbury was also an interesting experience after a gas explosion in a shop on Sunday had brought the town to almost stand still, even today there is still police on patrol in the area as it remains a crime scene.

After a morning turned to afternoon it was time to collect Kellyn and head home. The blast had cut out the Internet connection at home and we had now been offline for 3 days, so i was glad to hear it was back on.

Later at home Ceienna just could not wait to head out into the garden to play in the snow, so equipped with special boots off she went to play with her beloved Google and Muzzy. As i stood watching her, i drifted into a sort of daydream, thinking that just a few weeks ago, she was my little baby crawling around the floor, now she has developed into a very strong minded toddler very capable of letting everyone know exactly what she wants, even the animals. It was getting late when i picked her up and brought her in even this was against her will but she could not stop there all night.

What a day we all had playing in the snow and making life changing decisions.

Saturday, 2 January 2010

Kellyn and i ventured out on our own for a walk around our village. We had great fun taking in the fresh air, as the weather was cold you could feel the bite In the air. We headed first to the park where we played on the swings and on the slide, Kellyns favourites before moving on a little bit further. As we walked around we talked about various things happening in our lives, He was free to ask what he wanted and got truthful answers. It was a nice hour spent just me and my wonderful intelligent son.

Christmas With the McHugh's 2009

Christmas this year was full of excitement, Kellyn and i put up the tree with a little help from Ceienna. Kellyn was extremely proud of himself.

Christmas Eve Kellyn spent the day on the computer tracking Santa across the world, adding to the excitement we thought it was great fun learning about other places on our planet and how other people live and celebrate Christmas. We also made some last minute Christmas decorations while settling down to watch the Christmas movies.

Christmas Day, Kellyn could not wait to get down stairs and see what presents he had, Ceienna too ripped off the shiny paper looking to see the gifts inside . They both had all the presents they had asked for.

Boxing day we headed to Wales for a drive looking at the views of the snow. It was great. Kellyn was very happy, Its great looking at the back seats and seeing two beaming faces looking back at you. We eventually Settled in Bala for our dinner along with all the ducks who swamped our car and some were even inside eating what food they found. Great fun.

Wonderland- Telford

Today the children and i headed to a very cold Telford. Parking the car we then had a lovely stroll though Telford Town Park. The park was just alive with many different forms of wildlife.

Kellyn amazed me with how much he knew. Eventually we made it to the entrance to Wonderland, From the start there was Christmas music playing all the way around adding to the mood. There were lots of schools there today including ones from Wales. It was soon time to meet up with our group and head in for our very exciting appointment. Both the children were booked to see Santa in his log cabin it was a great set up. Santa gave each child in the group a present, before we left for our walk around the park. In Winter Wonderland there were real reindeer which were just so cute and i especially loved the Ice Mountain.

Snow Whites Cottage was my favourite. Kellyn especially enjoyed going on the rides as he is able to go on his own here. It was a lovely trip, we had lots of fun today, me and Kellyn talked lots too. It really helped get ready for Christmas coming here too, Now it will be an early night as we have two more action packed days played.

Playgroup Christmas Party

Yesterday was the children Christmas party at playgroup, they were both very excited and could not wait to get there. When we did arrive Kellyn dumped his coat and raced off to find his friends closely followed by Ceienna, Get not having Clingy Children, so i headed off to the kitchen with our party contribution before heading back to join the children for a play, soon we heard a strange sound, Santa came in with lots of presents for the children. Kellyn was so please with his.

Next we headed for the long table lined with Yummyhome prepared food, it was lovely, while the mums and dads had a glass of mulled wine.

It was a lovely party and me and the children had a great time.

Santa Special on Cambrain Railway, Llynclys

Today saw the start of the children's 2009 Christmas Celebrations, We made our way to Llynclys, which is the home of Cambrian Railway for the Santa Special. Both Kellyn and Ceienna were bubbling with excitement as we parked the car and could not wait to be let out. We were showin into a carriage where it was warm and Kellyn could do some drawing while we paid our fair and the Guard informed us of the Health and Safety rules. I was amazed at how friendly all the staff were here, They made us most welcome. I would really recommend visiting them.
After talking to the Guard, we headed out to look at the train, It was a small steam train called Isabel. Kellyn and Ceienna were invited on to the footplate for a look inside, Kellyn was full of questions and Ceienna was itching to have a go.

Next we headed to see Santa in his Grotto, Ceienna though this was great and was very excited to receive her present, Kellyn was a little nervous but again the Guard talked to him and eventually Kellyn spoke to Santa giving him his list for Christmas Presents.

Next we took a ride on the train Kellyn and Ceienna had a talk on how to drive the train and had their journey sitting in with the Guard. It was a wonderful trip, i was so glad we went, The children had big beaming smiles on their faces the whole time, It brought home to me how special these children are over 6 people commented on the children, especially Kellyn his manors and confidence shines like a beacon, I am so proud of him, He has overcome so much this year and come through it all with little effect on him now. As for the railway this is very much a work in progress, but they make up for it in their kindness and passenger care, What a lovely group.

After our trip on the train we settled down for some dinner, having a Yummy Hotpot from the cafe it was super and great for warming up our insides before we headed outside for the magic show.
We took our seats in time for the show to begin, I have never seen such an excellent Magic show for children. Kellyn and Ceienna loved every minute of it, Kellyn even remembered every trick later and talked about nothing else through tea. It Really was the best show i have ever seen.
Before leaving we took another ride on the train, This time Ceienna did get her go driving, She was chuckling all down the track. Great Few Hours Fun we all had before normality set in.

Countdown to Christmas- First Day of Advent 2009

At playgroup this morning the start of Advent was celebrated by the children making Christmas cards, Kellyn did one with prints of snowmen decorated with glitter.Later on at home after tea we sat round the table with the advent calenders, I explained to Kellyn what advent calenders were for and why we have them, adding to his steadily growing excitement as Christmas approaches. Both Kellyn and Ceienna opened their Calenders. The Count Down has begun.

Daddy time again

Sunday saw myself taking kellyn and ceienna to a play barn while georgina was busy working, as the weather is getting colder places like this are a good way of keeping them amused and also give them a good workout as they are climbing and running all the time,we were the first in and kellyn was straight into the ball pool ceienna knew exactly were she was and it was not long before she was off exploring everything she was trying to follow kellyn to the top of the slide she could not do it so she thought about it and tried to go up the slide poor ceienna was getting no where so i carried her in my arms and took her to the top we both went down the slide and she was loving it.All to soon more and more children were there and the place was full kellyn was really enjoying himself as he was playing with all the children ceienna also was playing but she wanted to join the bigger boys and girls bit rough for her yet so i stayed with her swinging her in a big chair. After nearly three hours there they were getting tired but kellyn wanted to go to toys r us we arrived there and once again ceienna knew were she was we had a great time in there kellyn driving around the store in a car and ceienna was in the trolley amazed at all the toys we walked around for about a hour and as i looked at ceienna she was falling asleep in the trolley also kellyn was getting tired we headed back to the car and headed back to mummy where we had a lovely tea and a nice evening together a really great day.

Nesscliffe Country Park & Kynastons Cave

After dropping Kellyn off at school on Friday, I headed off to Nesscliffe Country Park for a Treat. I parked up and let two very excited dogs out of the car. The park has many foot paths all heading in different directions.
We took the path heading towards Kynastons Cave. It was very muddy due to amount of rainfall we have had recently but this added to the fun especially for the dog who were running round going crazy chasing each other and diving in and out of the puddles.

It only took us 10 minutes to reach the cave which is lodged in the giant Red sandstone cliffs. The cave is now home to bats but once it was the home of a highway man Humphrey Kynaston Shropshire's answer to Robin Hood. From here was easy to see why he would have chosen this spot as you can see for miles.

After having a good look round this area, The two dogs and myself headed to Olivers point high up on top of the Cliff, it was well worth the climb as the views were breathtaking, We were able to look right over the welsh hills and enjoy a great view of the Briddens. As we reached the point there was even a lovely rainbow in view. I sat here for a while before taking a walk right the way around the park stopping at various information board to read what they said and take in the views. It was soon time to head off and collect Kellyn from School . With both Dogs very Muddy i was very glad of having a Kangoo and the inside being plastic. What a wonderful place to go for a walk and clear your head.

Dads club

Yes that super time again dads club kellyn loves it here and with ceienna moving about so much and exploring everything she sees its a great place to let them play.Today was a bit different we were all going on a winter walk we all got our coats on and put ceienna in her buggy and off we went kellyn was such a good boy he was holding on to the buggy his baby sister was in they are so close and kellyn is so protective of her the staff were very impressed by him.We found the apple garden and all the children were exploring, ceienna was in love with all the trees and was just staring at them kellyn was being very good telling everone that they were apples next we went on a path that twisted around a garden kellyn was really enjoying this he was running around me and ceienna so much energy. We could all start to feel the cold so it was time to head back for snacks the children had ther usual healthy fruit and wholemeal toast while the grown ups had super bacon and sausage sandwiches all was going great till ceienna spotted the sausages away with the healthy option into the mouth with the sausages she was loving them after she had finished them it was back to the healthy option kellyn also found a new thing bananas and tomato sauce yuck but he was happy.Ceienna suprised me today last month when we were there i gave her a special needs walker to try and she was walking great with it this time she knew were it was and went straight to it what a memory she has she was bumping into people but this time she was managing to turn it around on her own.As time was coming to an end we have song time all the children go in turns to choose a nursery rhyme kellyn,s turn what he choose diesel 10 everbody looked at each other they have never heard of it i had to explain that it was a nursery song myself and kellyn had made up we sang it and everbody loved it next ceienna turn her favourite is wind your bobbin up soon as we started singing she was pointing when the end came she was clapping and shouting she melts everbody,s heart. We all said our goodbyes and headed back to mummy who was very busy working and a great job she was doing i looked around at the children and they were both fast asleep think they enjoyed themselves well i know i did.

Flood Dodging

While the heavens keeps throwing more and more rain down on us we are constantly dodging floods. Today we headed through the lanes to playgroup, A few times we stopped to take in the views of the floods. In one place the water was half way up a tree. I feel sorry for people who's homes and businesses are effected by floods. Still on a brighter note, We have seen many rainbows which were very pretty and provide a good excuse for Kellyn to practice his colours.

Autumn at the Mere

Today we picked Kellyn up from school and headed to one of our most favorite places, Ellesmere. Parking up at the mere side we looked around and took in the spectacular views of Autumn. it was beautiful. The wildlife were zipping around despite the terrible weather we have been having. I took lots of photographs here of the wildlife and the views which surrounded the mere. Next we headed to the Canal tow path meeting it at Ellesmere Bridge, The path was very muddy but it didn't stop us. The tunnel is long and dark but it did not scare us. We are Strong and it take allot to knock us down and keep us down. Unfortunately we had too cut our walk short as Ceienna had a doctors appointment, but we had a great time together all the same.
