The Abbey - Shrewsbury

Today the family headed to Shrewsbury, where we visited Shrewsbury Abbey, The Abbey was made famous by the Ells Peters Books then later on the TV series Cadfile. On arriving at the Abbey Kellyn picked up a children's quiz sheet. We wandered around the abbey taking in the ancient architecture of the structure. In the ladies chapel we lit candles and paused for some time for quite reflection, before continuing our tour. As we walked round we discussed the age of the building . As Kellyn finished off his sheet we finished off the tour, Kellyn collected his prize for doing so well. We left the abbey for our next visit.

After the Abbey we headed across the road to Shropshire Wildlife trust centre, First we walked around the wild gardens, This was quite interesting. After we went into the education centre. Kellyn was very excited. First he put together some jigsaws before he completed a wildlife quiz where he had to guess the creature. He completed this in double quick time. Next Daddy explained to him how to use a Microscope, Kellyn was amazed by it and looked at several different slides.

We learnt alot about how we can help preserve our Shropshire wildlife for future generations during this visit. We have gained lots of ideas too. Great visit which helps Kellyn with his Schooling.

Today Kellyn, Ceienna, Muzzy and myself decided to change our plans today and make the most of a gorgeous summers day. So we headed to Colemere Country Park, This is also the home of Colemere Sailing club. The mere provides a great walk for pushchair users as it is completely flat. We walked around the whole mere stopping periodically to take in the views. Muzzy had great fun running up to the waters edge and back again and also meeting the other dog wandering around the park.

Fab Day out in Shrewsbury

Yesterday The family headed to the Historic town of Shrewsbury.

We had a great time first we headed to the Quarry swimming pool, Kellyn did really well in the pool even managing to venture off on his own for the first time.
After our swim, We headed into the town for a look round the shops before going to KFC for dinner.

After Dinner we crossed the road to Rowleys House Museum. This is a place i visited a few times when i was a child and so i was amazed at how much it had changed.

The Museum is located in an old Elizabethan house which was first built by William Rowley and was the first brick house in the town.

On The first floor there is currently and exhibition devoted the Charles Darwin and his family connections with the Wedgwood's which includes a beautiful display of Coal port Pottery.

On the Next level there is natural History displays including pretty rocks ans tones uncovered locally. There is also a display of finds from the Ice and Iron age. I was really interested in the finds the the Porth-Y-Wean area and Oswestry Hillfort.
Next We looking the the finds from Wroxeter Roman City, This is another interesting museum we have visited recently and are looking forward to visiting again soon. Here Daddy Dressed up in Traditional Roman Costume. We did laugh.
While here Kellyn got interested in Mosaics, He even had a go at copying them. Kellyn and I also had a go at playing an old Roman game similar to modern day Backgammon.
After a look around the Middle aged part of the museum and some more dressing up opportunity's we headed back down stairs to the art Gallery. Here Kellyn played on the Interactive Games and Daddy signed the visitor book on behalf of the Family.

Time slipped away really fast and it was soon 3pm and we had to rush back to the car to head to a family party, Were we had even more fun before making our way home.

Ceienna is now 9 months

This week the family celebrated our little princess turning 9 months, Where has the time gone. She is coming on very well. She will now copy nosies, She has said Mum for the first time which was really exciting. She will hold her arms out for you to pick he up or hold her. Ceienna is now very mobile, not only using her hands and knee's but she is learning to walk and stand up too.

She eats really well but prefers to be independent and feed herself. Her favourite food at the moment is Home Made Chips. She has 2 teeth now and she really does make use of them.

She enjoys playing trains with Kellyn, Looking at books and has recently discovered Jigsaw puzzles after watching Kellyn complete his, She expressed such an interest we got her her own and these have now become her favourite toys along with anything with buttons. She is able to hold one finger out to press buttons which is great to watch her do, Apart from changing the channel in the Television.

Ceienna is a very talkative little girl and still has a beaming smile for everyone she means.

I can not believe our little girl in 9 months old, it does not seem that long since i was at home sitting on the side of the bed the night she was born looking into the carrycot admiring my newborn baby, Now we are planning her first Birthday, I cant believe how lucky i am to have to wonderful children.
