RAF Cosford-

As this Sunday was Remembrance Sunday we headed to RAF Cosford in Telford. We had planned to come here after Kellyn recently watching James May building an Airfix model with local school children on BBC 2, He was then and has remained interested in War Plains especially Spitfires . We wandered around the hangers Kellyn was full of questions about the plains and most of all the engines and Mechanics of the plains and Helicopters

Kellyn and Ceienna had a great time learning about how plains fly, in the hands on part of the exhibition.

This is the airfix plain on a 1/1 scale designed by James May.

As we walked around we saw a helicopter which had served in Afghanistan, this brought home the war that is still going on today making it real and more than just something you see on the TV. We watched footage of World War 2, again sparking questions from Kellyn. We both believe it is important to teach children the history which has shaped our country and also about event which surround this special day. Also we walked around Kellyn got to talk with ex service men which were also visiting the museum, which was lovely or Kellyn to meet them. Another Event in the news which we spoke about with Kellyn was the fall of the Berlin Wall, a piece of the wall is on display in the museum and Kellyn had remembered hearing about the wall on Radio Shropshire, again something which amazed us both.
